Is Capstar or Comfortis better?

A key difference between Capstar and Comfortis is that Comfortis will keep killing adult fleas that bite your pet for 28days after a single dose. Comfortis also slows the egg production of fleas so helps to prevent your home becoming infested.

Is Comfortis and Capstar the same?

Capstar is available without a prescription, while Comfortis is available only with a prescription from a veterinarian. Comfortis contains the active ingredient of Spinosad, and Capstar uses Nitenpyram. Finally, Capstar is safe to administer as frequently as once daily, and Comfortis is a once-monthly treatment.

Can Capstar hurt my dog?

Capstar Tablets are safe for pregnant or nursing dogs and cats. When using this product, you may notice that your dog or cat will start scratching itself as fleas begin to die. The scratching behavior is temporary and is a reaction to the fleas, not the drug.
